Clinical Intern
Background
Ignacio is a Clinical Social Work Intern and loves being a social worker! Originally from the San Francisco Bay Peninsula, Ignacio has been living in Monterey County since 2001. Ignacio works individually with clients at the PGCC and also leads the Men's Support Group on Thursdays.
Experience
Ignacio started off his social work career in Detroit, MI as a union organizer. Since then, he has worked in a variety of settings to help empower those in probation, relative-caregiving, domestic violence, and homeless situations at different community agencies in Monterey County.
Geeking Out
Ignacio loves technology as an empowerment tool, and will often break out his iPad in sessions to pull up handouts for his clients. He is also the social media and tech person at the counseling center, helping the PGCC connect with students.
Education
Ignacio is a proud Otter, receiving his B.A. in Collaborative Health and Human Services at CSUMB in 2007. He received his MSW from San José State in 2009 (emphasizing in Health and Mental Health) and is now completing his training to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
